Community Action of South Mississippi (CASOMS) offers senior center services for Jackson County residents aged 60 or older. Senior Services include transportation, congregate meals and activities.

CASOMS caters to the needs of our seniors! Transportation services may include doctor’s appointments, pharmacy trips, hair or nail appointments, shopping, and even social visits. We strive to keep members busy and active. Activities are always planned and can be almost anything requested. Some examples of activities include going to the movies, trying new restaurants, and visiting the WWII Museum in New Orleans. Recently, the Blues and Heritage Festival was attended. In addition to activities, speakers are invited to speak to members about health issues or programs that are available in the community.

Members can request a ride by completing the ‘Ride Request’.
A 48-hour notice is required and ride confirmation will be received by telephone or email.

There are over 26 Medicare Advantage Plans available in Mississippi, and as you can imagine sorting through all of them can be confusing and time-consuming.
We aim to be a trusted healthcare information source for aging adults and their loved ones because we believe everyone deserves high-quality, affordable healthcare coverage. We create informational resources (Note: We do not sell or provide health insurance) that are specifically designed to help people navigate the complex maze that is Medicare and understand how to enroll as well as the differences among the myriad of plans.
The newly updated resource on Medicare Advantage Plans in Mississippi helps guide seniors through all of the available Medicare plans, eligibility requirements, enrollment guidelines, and their many benefits. Most importantly, we provide a list of helpful community organizations throughout Mississippi that further support seniors with their healthcare needs.
